“Life On The Midway”

Christopher Maslon will exhibit a new series of silkscreens on vinyl from his studio session inspired by “Life on the Midway“. According to Maslon, “These works highlight certain aspects and create an eerie form of Neo-Pop that reflects images from Midways and feels poster-like and ad-like from a modern perspective. The viewer should feel the redundancy and see the carnival imagery as completely man- made. The work pokes fun at ‘man-made-ness’.

Christopher Maslon 은 그의 스튜디오 기간중 ‘ 카니발의 어두운 이면(裏面)’ 에서 영감을 받은 새로운 실크스크린 시리즈를 전시할 예정입니다. 그에 따르면 ” 이 작품들은 특정한 관점이 부각되어 있고, ‘Midways’ 로 부터 받은 이미지를 반영한 네오팝 양식의 음산함으로 만들어졌습니다. 이것은 현대적 관점에서의 포스터나 광고 같은 느낌이 납니다. 관객들은 중복되고, 완전히 인위적으로 만들어진 카니발의 이미지를 볼 것입니다. 작품들은 ‘인공적인 것’ 을 조소(嘲笑) 합니다.”

Maslon received a BFA in printmaking from Columbus College of Art and Design. He received the Boston Globe Arts Award and a residency through the Korean International Residence Program.
